One of our favorite toys at this year’s Toy Fair is the new Nerf Lazer Tag system. This pick up and play game comes with two lazer tag guns or “taggers” that have sensors on the top, so no need for chest plates and other wearable parts. Because the system is so simple and doesn’t require extra gear, both kids and parents can get involved. The taggers even offer fun features like rumble feedback to let you know when you’ve been hit.
Playskool Launches Kota and Pals Touch Sensitive Dinosaurs

Playskool has expanded on their Kota dinosaur line with a series of smaller animated robots. The new Kota & Pals line includes three varieties of dino friends, each with touch sensors and their own personalities. The Hatchlings are tiny plush dinos that respond to touch, Stompers walk and make lifelike sounds while the big guy, Monty Rex, walks and moves all of his appendages.

We saw a lot of great tech toys at Toy Fair this year, but only one combined technology, fun and a social message. Hasbro used Toy Fair to launch Project Zambi. Zambi is a baby elephant which is part of their Furreal Friends animated plush line. Hasbro will be donating half of all profits from Zambi the Baby Elephant to children who have been orphaned as a result of the AIDS epidemic in Africa.

We went on an extensive tour with Hasbro at Toy Fair to get a picture of their entire lineup. Of course they’re promoting toys from a few big movies, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen being one of them. There are several tech oriented toy releases that will be coming out this summer in conjunction with the movie including the Bumblebee Voice Mixer Helmet, Bumblebee Plasma Cannon and while it’s not really tech, it is very cool, the evil Constructicon Devastator which is made up of six smaller robots.
Fisher Price Announces Creative Play TV Games – My Toon TV and Splatter Brush

Fisher Price announced two creative play solutions at Toy Fair, designed for easy plug and play setup with almost any TV. My Toon TV lets kids put themselves into a cartoon and Splatter Brush lets kids create with a wireless paint brush on their TV. Both sets are due out in June.

Disney Announces The Princess and the Frog Toys

This fall Disney will debut its first theatrical release in 10 years, “The Princess and the Frog.” They will also be releasing around the same time a Blu-ray release of ” Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” To support these films Disney unveiled a complete line of merchandise at the Toy Fair yesterday. Though the product releases are heavy of dolls and dress-up, we’ve highlighted the more tech-oriented toys in the group.
Thomas Wooden Railway Talking Railway Announced

Learning Curve is showing off a new series of Thomas Wooden Railway toys at Toy Fair. The new line features RFID sensors that are built into the engines and destinations. Depending on who passes by and whether or not Sir Topham Hatt is watching, different phrases and greetings will be played.
Dora Links Tech Doll and New Tween Dora Coming This Fall

Dora is moving to the big city and that’s not all that’s changing; she’s older too and attending middle school. Mattel and Nickelodeon are upgrading Dora’s look and age to appeal to a new, older audience – the new tween Dora is designed to appeal to girls age 5 and up. Her full new look and product line will be revealed this fall, but we already know about an intriguing new tech-laden doll that stands to be a game changer.
