LeapFrog Rolls FlashQuiz for Apple App Store

LeapFrog has launched a second application for the Apple App Store, FlashQuiz. The mobile flashcard and quiz game gives kids in third- through eighth grade study tools to prepare for tests and other classroom activities. FlashQuiz matches school’s curriculum to provide appropriate and challenging games in math, science and social studies.
VTech Launches KidiLook Digital Photo Frame

VTech has launched a digital picture frame designed for kids in the 3-6 age group. The KidiLook runs $24.99 and lets kids have a portable photo gallery that holds 100 images. Kids can scroll through their image or give the unit a shake to shuffle through their pictures.
Dell Gets in on Kids Netbook Game With Slimy Nick-themed Inspiron Mini

As the Disney Netbooksjust start to ship, Dell has announced the Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition. Similar to the Disney/Asus effort, the Dell netbook features a Nick-branded shell, which of course means slime, and operating system skins from their big shows like SongeBob and iCarly. Dell has also included extra safety software so parents know kids are only exposed to safe content online.
Disney Netpal Available Now

In June, Disney announced they’d be selling a kid’s version of the popular Asus netbook. The Disney Netpal features more than 40 parental control options, an 8.9″ display, WiFi, Windows XP Home, and kid-friendly software featuring Disney characters. Initially due out in July, it looks like they’ll start shipping next week for $349, but they’re available for pre-order now.
VTech Rolls Out Bugsby – Sets Sights on Tag Reader

It’s hard to look at the new kid’s reading tool from VTech, Bugsby, without drawing an immediate comparison to the popular LeapFrog Tag Reading System. From what we can tell, VTech decided to get into the action by knocking off the LeapFrog system in a less elegant, albeit less costly system.

Perhaps the most popular electronic reading aid for older kids is the LeapFrog Tag Reading System. LeapFroghas used that same technology to reach an entirely new, and younger, audience with the Tag Junior. Uncle Milton Star Wars The Force Trainer and Darth Vader Robotic Arm Nearing Release

According to product pages on Toys R Us, much of Uncle Milton’s Star Wars line is going to be available over the next few days. We played with both The Force Trainer and the Darth Vader Robotic arm at Toy Fair this year. The Trainer is fun for a while, but may be hard to justify for the $100 price point. The Robotic Arm runs $30 and lets kids snap together the parts, then use the arm to grip and hold objects. The Jedi Projector, Telescope and the other Star Wars branded science products are also shipping soon.
Disney Flix and Pix Twist Cameras Announced for Tweens

Disney will have two new digital imaging products available this fall for tweens. The Flix digital video camera comes with blue screen backdrop to let kids put themselves in fun scenes. The Pix Twist digital camera uses a rotation mechanism so kids can take great self-portraits and group shots.
Disney Mix Lights Digital Audio Player Announced

This summer Disney debut an MP3 player designed for kids, along with the new Mix Central download store that contains content designed just for kids. The Disney Mix Lights, as the name implies, lights up with the beat of the music and has 2GB of internal storage.
