The Zibits mini r/c robots from Senario are collectible toys with sound and lights, speed and spin. They are fun, easy to use, durable, and the new favorite toy of many of my testers. At $10 each, I can see the Zibits being a must-have stocking stuffer or Hanukkah gift.

Review: Hyper Blast

Hyper Blast is part of Wild Planet’s Smart Step games series which are designed to be educational while getting kids active at the same time. Hyper Blast is a numbers based game, that times kids while they try to return five colored balls to the base station. Multiple levels make the game progressively harder by mixing in math and other new commands.

Review: WowWee Lightstar

WowWee’s Lightstar is a hovering remote flight vehicle with a few twists, including light effects. Lightstar has an internal battery that gives it up to four minutes of flight time, and comes in three colors and channels so three Lightstar’s can be flown at the same time.

Review: Mickey’s Mouse-ke-TAG

We first head about Mickey’s Mouse-ke-TAG from Wild Planet at the beginning of the year and caught an early mock-up at Toy Fair. Mickey’s Mouse-ke-TAG is ready for release now though, we’ve been playing with our review unit. The game gets kids up and moving with an engaging game that leverages RFID technology and a kid favorite brand, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Review: Hexbug Ant (video)

We’ve reviewed all of the latest creations from Hexbug – and were excited to see a demo of their latest creation, the Ant, at Toy Fair earlier this year. Hexbug recently sent us one of these little creatures with the promise of it being 10 times faster than any of their mini-bots to date. We’ll take their word for the 10 times faster, the thing flies – it’s also 10 times more schizophrenic too.

Review: LeapFrog Tag Junior

LeapFroghas used that same technology to reach an entirely new, and younger, audience with the Tag Junior. Kids who are just starting out with animal sounds, colors and other basics can wave the frog-ish Tag Junior over specially inked pages for a fun and interactive learning experience.

LeapFrog has designed the Text and Learn to appeal to young kids who want to emulate their parent’s behavior. While parents may be engaged in more advanced activities, the Text and Learn gives those 3 and older a way to learn more about letters on a device similar to their parent’s.

Review: Neopets Learning Game for LeapFrog Didj

Explore the land of Neopia while healing cursed faeries and learning language arts skills. The Neopets learning game for the LeapFrog Didj teaches and enforces contextual spelling, possessive nouns, parts of speech, and subject-verb agreement for 7-10 year olds. It’s a low-pressure game where your child explores the game world, collects items, completes quests, and gathers petpets by playing educational games with them.

Review: Imagination Games Frogger DVD Game

Imagination games has a somewhat different take on affordable interactive gaming. While many offer battery powered TV Games that connect to the TV, Imagination has a series of DVD-based games that come with floor mats. In this case, kids follow on-screen instructions from Frogger to see who can hop to the end of the mat the fastest.
