The classic card game UNO gets a new incarnation at Toy Fair this year. UNO Roboto is managed by a robot master that integrates with the players by recording each person’s name at the start of the game, issuing commands by name. Roboto also causes gameplay changes throughout by forcing players to switch cards and can even include house rules.
Matchbox Smokey The Fire Truck [Toy Fair 2011]

Matchbox is continuing to add onto their interactive truck series which debuted with Rocky two years ago and Stinky the Garbage Truck last year. Smokey is of course a fire truck and carries on the tradition of providing kids with fun vocals and robotic action movements. He also adds a new feature, a “water canon” that shoots small blue cannon balls to put out fires.

Yes, that’s 300 toys around the upcoming Disney-Pixar Cars 2 movie! We had the opportunity to see the toys in action, there are several fun tech toys ranging from remote control cars to the autonomous Lightning McQueen Alive, which is the size of a typical die cast car. Overall it was a super event with guest appearances from Michael Caine (Finn McMissile) and Emily Mortimer (Holley Shiftwell). The Hasbro LITE-BRITE isn’t normally associated with kid’s tech, but the new products for 2011 are interesting in that they’re getting design overhauls to make them more tablet-like, with elements that are clearly pulled from the Apple iPhone and iPad. Beyond the design changes though, the LITE-BRITE line gets LED lights, new stay-put pegs and better systems to hold design sheets and extra pegs in place.
