Star Wars Ultimate FX Lightsabers [Toy Fair 2011]

There are few Star Wars fans, if any, that don’t boast at least one Lightsaber in their toy collection. Our household has four, each fun to play with, but none as robust or interactive as Hasbro’s latest effort, the Star Wars Ultimate FX Lightsaber.
The new Lightsabers are the most authentic ever, featuring a progressive light-up blade with vibrant LED lights. The purity of the color and brightness is actually quite stunning, especially considering the price point of $34.99. It’s not all about lights though, the sounds are great too, making the blade extending/retracting noises, blade clashing sounds and so on.
While the Lightsabers are a bit smaller than past efforts from Hasbro, kids will surely give up size for the realistic effects. At release in August, two models will be available, the blue Anakin Skywalker and the red Darth Vadar. Of course we’ll overlook the fact that Anakin will have to fight himself. Hasbro will likely extend the line to include other Jedi and Sith after the first two units have time in the market.
