LITE-BRIGHT Updated With LED Lights [Toy Fair 2011]

The Hasbro LITE-BRITE isn’t normally associated with kid’s tech, but the new products for 2011 are interesting in that they’re getting design overhauls to make them more tablet-like, with elements that are clearly pulled from the Apple iPhone and iPad. Beyond the design changes though, the LITE-BRITE line gets LED lights, new stay-put pegs and better systems to hold design sheets and extra pegs in place.
Compared to the LITE-BRITEs of old, these new units look great and offer more flexible play elements than ever before. Here’s a rundown of the new products, all available this fall:
- LITE-BRITE LED Flat Screen – portable light station that kids can use upright or folded flat. Holds 200 pegs and comes with 10 templates. Flat Screen comes in pink or blue and will retail for $14.99.
- LITE-BRITE LED Travel – uses the same high brightness LED technology as the Flat Screen, just in a smaller package designed for travel. At 7 inches tall the unit is easily portable, comes with 100 pegs and 4 designs and comes in teal, purple or black. MSRP $9.99
- LITE-BRITE Four-Share Cube – this iteration of LITE-BRITE is four-sided, making it great for companion play. The Cube either sits upright, or can be folded flat. Includes 300 pegs and 12 design templates. MSRP $19.99
It’s hard to argue with the fun that LITE-BRITE can provide, and for these price points, we’re certain parents will be excited about adding the venerable brand to their kid’s travel kits and regular play routines. The new designs and adoption of LED technology make this one of our favorites from the new Hasbro lineup.
