Learning Encounters™ has announced a new line of science discovery toys which includes affordable, high-quality telescopes, microscopes and accessories for astronomy and science lovers from beginner to advanced. Founded in 2010, Learning Encounters™ will present their products at Toy Fair 2011 in New York City.
Learning Encounters™ has geared their products toward children, but the telescopes and microscopes are capable of real scientific work, while remaining affordable.
Telescopes include the StarScout™ (SRP $39.99) and SkyViewer™ (SRP $49.99). Both are portable refractor telescopes and each comes in an easy-to-assemble kit, providing an opportunity for users to learn how a telescope works. Each telescope has a precision ground and coated glass lens that provides the clarity of a scope up to five times the price.
Microscopes include the digital MicroViewer™ line which come in 200x (SRP $79.99) or 500x (SPR $129.99) magnifications. These microscopes can be hand-held or mounted to an included base, and each uses your desktop or laptop screen as a display, connecting via a USB port. The microscopes come with software that allow users to capture images directly to their computers, so budding scientists can share their discoveries with family and friends.
Accessories offered by Learning Encounters™ are designed to enhance the experience of their products. The Diagonal Kit™ (SRP $24.99) expands the capabilities of the SkyViewer™, making star gazing more comfortable by providing an angled eye piece. The Cosmos Camera™ (SPR $99.99) attaches to any telescope with a 1.25 inch eyepiece and allows users to capture photos and videos. The camera plugs directly into a computer’s USB port for easy sharing. The Voyager Tripod™ (SRP $19.95) has a bubble level, tote bag, and a standard mounting screw, making it usable for a variety of telescopes, cameras, or video recorders.
Dedicated to sharing the joy of science and cultivating a love of learning, Learning Encounters™ provides support for products via a robust, interactive website, www.LeoScienceLab.com. The site provides experiments and lesson plans for parents and teachers to download, while children can enter contests and share photos and videos on the web site blog — ideal for home schoolers, science teachers, and enthusiasts alike.
We look forward to reviewing these items soon!
