PeeWee PC Announces Shipment of PeeWee Kit

Written on Apr 13, 2010 by RuthJS and filed under News, PeeWee, PeeWee PC

Rather than spending money on a “computer-like” toy for your preschool or elementary school student that the child will just outgrow, PeeWee has created software that transforms any computer into an age-appropriate device for children.

PeeWee Kit

Parent-Focused

Designed specifically for low-cost notebook computers, the PeeWee Kit software saves parents the time spent downloading child-specific programs, setting access controls, and securing the computer on a home network.  PeeWee has made it so that all a parent has to do is simply plug in a USB drive that is pre-loaded with games, educational software, and security controls, and the child’s computer is transformed into a tool that is secure and geared toward small children. To customize the computer further, parents can choose from three levels of computing: Pre-K, Early Elementary and Upper Elementary.

“PeeWee Patrol” Security Suite

Serious about safety, PeeWee has created a suite of parental controls that allows parents to determine how, when, and if children use the computer and/or access the Internet.  Parents can set time limits for browsing, review the child’s browsing history (complete with screen shots), and even remotely control the child’s computer.

Kid-Focused, Too

PeeWee has kept kids in mind by including a flurry of educational games in the software.  These age-appropriate games reinforce math, science, reading, reasoning, and logic skills through play.  The specific games include:

  • Science House
  • Bailey Book House
  • Trudy’s Time & Place House
  • Sammy’s Science House
  • Millie’s Math House
  • Thinkin’ Things
  • Mighty Math Carnival Countdown
  • Zoombinis Mountain Rescue
  • Reader Rabbit
  • Where in the World in Carmen Sandiego?
  • Oregon Trail

Pricing and Computing Requirements

Priced at $29.99 with free shipping, the PeeWee Kit is available now.  Also available is a CD-ROM version for $19.99 that contains only four games.  Regardless of shipping format (USB or CD), the PeeWee Kit requires Windows 7, Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Vista Service Pack 1 operating systems, and a Pentium processor or higher.  An available USB port is also needed for the standard kit.
