Written on Sep 29, 2009 by Brian and filed under Hexbug, News

Hexbug is about to release another in their line of robotic bugs. The Hexbug Nano will be formally released October 1st. The Nano features 12 angular legs that are propelled rather quickly by a small motor (see the video below). Each Nano also comes with a unique identification number that can be added to an online account where kids can earn points, play games and learn about scientists.

The Nano appears to move much like the Ant, heading in the opposite direction when it runs into an object. The Nano has a new twist though, if it’s on its back, it can flip over and get moving again.

The Hexbug Nano also has a scientific tie-in. Each collection will be named after a world famous scientist. The first batch available next month are called the “Newton Collection” and come in green, orange, blue, purple and red. To finish the motif, each Nano will be packaged in a test tube for safe travels.

The Hexbug Nano line will be available October 1st for $7.99 each from Toys R Us and Radio Shack.
