PeeWee Pivot Tablet Laptop Released – Durable Tablet PC for Kids

PeeWee PC has announced a new Tablet PC/Notebook designed to be tough enough to work with spill and drop-prone kids, while offering enough computing power to actually be useful. The Pivot tablets run Windows XP and are powered by Intel Atom processors at 1.6 GHz. They’re also just 3 pounds and easy to tote with included handle. The Pivot is geared toward children ages 3-10.

The PeeWee Pivot works just like grown-up versions of Tablet PCs. They can either work in standard notebook mode, or the screen can rotate and collapse, giving kids a touch interface instead of the keyboard. To make it feel more kid-oriented, there are a few customizations like an included Disney XP theme (choice of several including Wall-E and EVE) and a suite of software which includes 10 age-appropriate games. Parents get peace of mind too with an included security suite and full control of how, and possibly more importantly, when their kids can use the laptop. 

Specifically, this means parents can limit how much time their children spend browsing the Internet (on a daily or weekly basis), block inappropriate sites with any version of any web browser, take screen shots, view browsing history, and even control the laptop remotely. Additionally, the PeeWee security suite also allows parents limit the amount of time children spend gaming and protects the laptop by preventing children from changing system settings.

The PeeWee Pivot is available now, exclusively through the PeeWee site, starting at $599.99. There are several options though that can increase the price, like taking the included 1GB of RAM to 2GB, that will set you back a hefty $89. To their credit though, they do include a 3-year warranty with lifetime phone support and PeeWee lets buyers designate one of three charities for a $25 donation that goes with every sale. They
