Spykee, distributed under the Erector name in the US, is launching three new versions of their robot. The new versions dubbed Cell, Miss and Vox, all feature iPod docks and the Miss and Vox feature response to voice commands while the Cell model can be used as a Bluetooth speaker for a mobile phone and can be remote controlled via mobile as well. All three are expected to be released this fall.
Spykee Cell
While Cell gives up the Wi-Fi connection found in the previous version of Spykee, he does gain the Bluetooth connection which enables the cell phone features (hands free and remote control). He does get to keep the camera as well, which can save spy shots to the mobile phone. Here’s a list of compatible phones and the functions they can control. Unfortunately you can only get the entire set of functionality from Nokia phones. Cell is expected to retail for $260.
Spykee Vox
Vox is a robot that can either play nice or not, as he has a split good-guy or bad-guy personality. He responds to voice commands with movements, facial expressions, lights and sounds. Of course he can play music via the iPod but he also has an IR remote that can be programmed to control four channels on your TV. The bot is programmable and features several attack modes, including kung-fu. Vox does not have Wi-Fi or camera. Vox is expected to retail for $180.
Spykee Miss
Miss is essentially the girl version of Vox, and contains the same feature set, just a bit more feminine. Miss will be prices with the Vox near $180.
