Mattel FAMPS Announced

When Mattel sent us an update on their CES announcements, they didn’t include FAMPS. But on the show floor we learned more about this combination of software and accessories that let kids express their emotions in their virtual space.
FAMPS stands for Feelings, Attitudes, Moods and Personalities. Designed mostly for girls, FAMPS is all about connecting, expressing and sharing in the social networking context. FAMPS takes this form of communication and brings it together with collectible figures that connect and communicate with a Mac or PC via USB and RFID technology.
FAMPS figures allow girls to reflect their various emotions through their virtual space. Each figure creates a unique emotional makeover so girls can express themselves in all kinds of fun new ways via their desktop, e-mail, widgets and IM. Girls can also create custom wallpapers, e-cards and more based on their feeling, attitude, mood or personality at that time. Additionally, girls can expand their FAMPS world by collecting the individual FAMPS characters that can be carried with them as key chains, displayed on their desks or traded with friends.
FAMPS will be available this fall, but Mattel has not yet announced pricing for the initial package or add on FAMPS figures.
