Toys R Us Trying to Move Spike the Ultra Dinosaur

Written on Nov 6, 2008 by Brian and filed under Fisher Price, News

Spike the Ultra Dinosaur, from Fisher Price, has a lot going for it. The remote controlled dino is already a hit amongst kids and parents who worry about durability have been pleasantly surprised thus far.

Spike also does well with multiple age groups. While it’s marketed for ages 3-8, even younger kids either enjoy playing with Spike or enjoy watching an older sibling put Spike to work.

Spike operates via a large six-button remote control that makes him move, stand up on hind legs, open and close his mouth, light up and make a variety of dino noises. Once you get the operations down, you can even make Spike throw his included ball, err, boulder.

Toys R Us, who is like most retailers getting battered right now, is making a concerted push around Spike. Most stores feature an end-cap display and a nearby mid-aisle pile of Spike Dinosaurs. They’re also taking $10 off right now, making it the lowest mainstream price for Spike.
